Machines from Nový Jičín help unload ships in New Zealand

At STECOMTRA, we have expanded our production to include chassis for mobile bulk material unloaders. Starting this year, we are providing not only manufacturing but also final assembly of these machines for the Swedish company Siwertell. These machines are already helping to unload ships on the other side of the world.

Mobile unloaders are complex technical devices that transfer bulk materials such as cement, coal, or wood chips from ships to trucks or rail cars. Thanks to its sophisticated design, the approximately 17-meter-long machine folds down onto our chassis during transport and unfolds to its full height upon arrival at the port. We manufacture each piece according to precise drawings, with accuracy in the order of tenths of a millimeter being key.

"The customer demands exceptional precision, sometimes down to half a millimeter. The components must be assembled precisely, otherwise the equipment cannot be assembled," says Adam Drastich, sales director at STECOMTRA. "We have manufactured six machines so far, and this year, for the first time, we have also provided complete assembly," he adds. The chassis from Nový Jičín are already helping in New Zealand, South Korea, and European ports.

Production for Siwertell also represents a strategic shift for us. "The port technology segment is technologically interesting and growing worldwide. We believe it has long-term potential and we want to be part of it," adds Drastich.

We plan to produce up to 15 machines in three size variants per year. STECOMTRA is also preparing to manufacture a technology tower and is negotiating the possibility of supplying other components.

The Swedish company Siwertell, part of the Bruks Siwertell Group, is one of the world leaders in port technology. Its unloading systems operate in more than a hundred ports around the world and are valued for their high performance, efficiency, and environmental friendliness.

Siwertell equipment is currently in operation in ports such as Immingham in the UK, Veracruz in Mexico, Benghazi in Libya, Son Duong in Vietnam, Jurong in Singapore, and the new Minergy Port in Senegal. It is precisely there that the chassis manufactured in Nový Jičín could be headed in the future.

"The partnership with Siwertell confirms the strong reputation of Czech engineering abroad. At the same time, it underscores the ability of our plants to develop and manufacture technologies that are used all over the world, truly on a global scale," summarizes Denisa Materová, CEO of PROMET Group.
